Online instruction in theory and practice for advanced students, church organists, performers and individuals preparing for professional diplomas, e.g. ARCT, ARCCO, FRCCO.
How it Works
The student provides
A sound recording of their playing or a PDF of their written work.
A PDF of the sheet music and the organ specification.
A note explaining particular aspects of the music that require instruction.
I provide
A detailed critique of your playing or written work – text document or audio file.
Technical, stylistic, and historical information about the music being studied.
Fingering and pedalling for difficult passages (or for entire pieces) as needed.
The Benefits
You set your own goals and only submit your work when you feel that it is ready.
You receive instructions that are more focused and detailed than an in-person lesson.
You receive a hard copy of the critique that you can work from, rather than striving to recall what was said in a “live” lesson.
You develop the necessary skills for self-critique and evaluation.
You will benefit from my experience of organ playing and teaching in various settings and on multiple organs – from the distressingly bad to the gloriously wonderful!
